FAQ
Q1. Do I still need to use Hydrating Serum before using Barrier Booster Moisturiser?
A1. Yes. We highly recommend that you use Hydrating Serum as it adds water and holds water in your skin. 64% of skin is water, so hydration is absolutely necessary. Barrier Booster Moisturiser serves to add oil and lock in the hydration.
Q2. Is it a must to use Barrier Booster Moisturiser?
A2. For younger skin below 25, it’s not necessary to use Barrier Booster Moisturiser if you find the Hydrating Serum is moisturising enough for you. For ages above 25, we recommend that you use Barrier Booster Moisturiser to benefit from its antioxidants rich and anti-aging properties. For oily skin, you can use it as a night cream.
Q3. I find that Barrier Booster Moisturiser is not moisturising enough? What should I do?
A3. Mix 1-2 drops of oil with the moisturiser and apply. Otherwise, you can layer on Balancing Facial Oil by applying the pure oil. Our oil layering only recommended for very dry skin or in harsh climates.
Q4. After using Barrier Booster Moisturiser, my face is oily or I noticed my pores are enlarged.
A4. If that’s the case, it means that it’s too oily for you. Everybody has different degrees of dryness and requires different amount of oil. Barrier Booster Moisturiser contains a small percentage of our proprietary oil blend that is beneficial for acne-prone skin. You can try mixing a little bit of Barrier Booster Moisturiser with Hydrating Serum and apply together. Jasmine, our founder, uses about 3 grain size of moisturiser to one full pump of Hydrating Serum.
Q5. How does it help to “Barrier Boost”?
A5. The moisturiser has a blend of skin lipid-identical ingredients like ceramides, cholesterol and free fatty acids. These ingredients hold skin cells together like glue, reinforcing the skin barrier. By reinforcing skin barrier, hydration increases leading to smooth plump skin and decreases skin sensitivity.
Q6. If it contains oil, will it clog up my pores?
A6. These antioxidants-rich oils are specially selected as they are beneficial for breakout-prone skin. These proprietary blend of plant oils with natural Vitamin E moisturizes and doesn’t clog up pores. It helps to balance sebum production.
Q7. I think you misspelled squalene. Am I reading this correctly?
A7. No, we didn’t misspelled squalene. Squalene is found naturally in our skin. But we use squalane derived from sugarcane in our Barrier Booster Moisturiser. Squalane is created by hydrogenation of squalene. Due to the complete saturation of squalane, it cannot oxidise anymore. A study has shown that oxidation of squalene leads to acne, hence by adding squalane, less squalene will be produced and in turn helps in reducing acne.
