Hydrating Serum’s Key Active Ingredients

Sodium Hyaluronate

Hydrates deeply and improves skin barrier. Plumps skin and leaves a nice dewy glow.

Amino Acids & PCA

Improves skin’s hydration, resilience, texture, and an overall healthy, supple appearance.

Glycerin

Increases skin’s hydration and retains moisture. Softens skin. Improves skin barrier function.

How Hydrating Serum Was Developed

Hydrating serum, essentially a Sodium Hyaluronate serum, is the only moisturizer that Jasmine, our founder, could use. She spent years trying many moisturizers but none were suitable until she met an aesthetic doctor who introduced a Sodium Hyaluronate serum to her. Before founding Skinlycious, for close to 9 years, Jasmine was buying a similar hydrating serum from her doctor at 3x the current price Skinlycious is retailing.

Jasmine further improved the formula by adding PCA and amino acids to mimic our skin’s natural moisturising factor (NMF). When we have skin problems, like acne, eczema, psoriasis, our NMF are of lower levels. As we age, natural production of NMF also diminishes. By adding in NMF and hydration, your skin stays hydrated and skin barrier function is strengthened.

Barrier Booster Moisturiser’s Key Active Ingredients

Ceramides + Cholesterol + Fatty Acid

Locks moisture into the skin and reinforces skin barrier, decreasing skin sensitivity.

Proprietary Oil Blend

Cold pressed Jojoba Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Squalane, Sunflower Oil moisturizes without clogging pores, leaving skin soft and supple.

Lotus Leaf, Green Tea, Guava Leaf, Angelica Gigas Extract

A plant extract which is rich in
antioxidants and helps to ease skin irritations and inflammation. It also protects the skin from sun light, with a certain whitening effect.

PRO-VITAMIN B5 (Panthenol)

Binds and holds water in the skin, moisturizing and softening skin. Helps strengthen skin barrier.

Saccharide Isomerate

Long-lasting hydration for up to 72 hours as it cannot be washed away once absorbed. Helps to relieve sensitive skin too.

How Barrier Booster Moisturiser was Developed

To understand natural ingredients better, Jasmine specially took a diploma in organic skincare formulation. After researching on the types of oil that is beneficial for acne-prone skin, Jasmine tested and developed a proprietary oil blend (Skinlycious Balancing Facial Oil) that didn’t break her out. She then used this oil to formulate Barrier Booster Moisturiser.

After many iterations, Jasmine finalised on a formula that didn’t break her out. She then sent out 3 samples of the same formula, with difference only in the percentage of Balancing Facial Oil, to a small group of initial customers who feedback that they needed a moisturiser on top of hydrating serum. It was a blinded test. When the results came back, there was no winner among the 3 samples.

Jasmine then decided to choose the one with a lower oil percentage, so that herself (oily/normal breakout-prone skin) could use this moisturiser. And launch a pure blend of our proprietary oil as Skinlycious Balancing Facial Oil, so that the dry breakout-prone skin can customise the amount of oil they need.
