These coconut- and plant-derived cleansing agents lift away dirt, excess oil, and impurities thoroughly but gently. Unlike harsh sulfates, they don't strip your skin's natural moisture — so your protective barrier stays intact.
Finding the right cleanser formulation for breakout-prone and oily-prone skin is harder than it sounds. Many common cleansing agents (surfactants) actually trigger excess oil production — the last thing you want.
For Jasmine, our founder, most cleansers on the market would throw her skin balance off completely. Within 2–3 hours of cleansing, her skin would turn oily — not because she naturally produced that much sebum, but because the cleanser had stripped her skin into overcompensating. With the right cleanser formulation, however, her skin could stay matte the whole day.
Cleansers and sunscreen are, by far, the two hardest products to formulate for Jasmine’s acne-prone, oily-prone, sensitive skin. Most formulas force a trade-off — clean well or be gentle. Calming Cleanser uses a carefully selected blend of gentle, plant-derived surfactants that lift away dirt, excess oil, and impurities without compromising your skin’s protective barrier. The result: that satisfying clean feeling, without the tightness or dryness that can trigger more oiliness and breakouts down the line.
And because the formula doesn’t overly strip your skin, your sebum production stays balanced throughout the day — no mid-afternoon shine, no rebound oiliness.
Many acne cleansers also contain active ingredients like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide — applied all over the face, even where there’s no acne. Over time, this blanket approach can disrupt your skin barrier rather than protect it.
Cleansing shouldn’t make your skin feel worse. If your skin tends to look red or feel reactive after washing, your cleanser might be working against you.

All Skinlycious products are made in a certified Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facility in Singapore. Our products undergo rigorous lab testing and are notified with the US FDA, SG HSA, and MY NPRA.
We typically take 1–2 working days to prepare your order, then another 1–2 working days for delivery. Note that we don’t ship on weekends or Singapore public holidays.
Calming Cleanser is designed for daily cleansing — it’s not formulated to remove makeup or mineral sunscreens. For that, we recommend using our Soothing Cleansing Gel first, then following up with Calming Cleanser. Even if you don’t wear makeup, double-cleansing in the evening is always a good habit.
Both are gentle cleansers, but they’re designed for different skin needs:
1) Skin Sensitivity & Makeup Removal
• Soothing Cleansing Gel is ideal for sensitive skin and doubles as a makeup/sunscreen remover. It effectively removes waterproof makeup and mineral sunscreens — making it a great first step in a double cleansing routine.
• Calming Cleanser is gentler as a daily morning or second-step cleanser, but not as effective for removing stubborn makeup/sunscreen.
2) Soothing Ingredients
• Soothing Cleansing Gel contains a proprietary blend of 7 plant extracts clinically proven to reduce redness, itch, and sensitivity.
• Calming Cleanser contains Calamine, known to calm irritation and itch.
3) Moisturising Ingredients
• Soothing Cleansing Gel has three moisturising ingredients — including the same olive-derived ingredient plus Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hyaluronate and Saccharide Isomerate, which stay on skin even after rinsing.
• Calming Cleanser has one olive-derived moisturising ingredient that hydrates while cleansing (but rinses off).
4) Presence of Acid
• Soothing Cleansing Gel has no acid and is more suitable for very sensitive skin.
• Calming Cleanser has lactic acid, which is also naturally found in our skin. Those with super sensitive skin might not tolerate anything with acid.
In short, Soothing Cleansing Gel offers deeper cleansing, stronger soothing, and longer-lasting hydration — hence its higher price.
A true dairy allergy causes hives, swelling, or itch. Lactose intolerance alone isn’t considered an allergy. Our founder Jasmine is lactose intolerant but has no issues with Calming Cleanser. If you’re worried, always patch test first. Hydrolyzed Whey Protein is derived from cow’s milk.
As an alternative, our Soothing Cleansing Gel is fully vegan and free from animal-derived ingredients.
Totally normal – and intentional! We don’t add foaming agents to our cleansers because they tend to dry out the skin. Our formula cleanses thoroughly and gently without relying on foam to do the job.
