The Ingredients That Make It Work
The Ingredients That Make It Work
Key Ingredients:
• Sodium Hyaluronate
The gold-standard hydrator. Sodium Hyaluronate draws moisture from the environment and locks it into your skin — holding up to 1,000 times its weight in water. It delivers deep, lasting hydration that plumps skin and visibly reduces fine lines over time, without feeling heavy or oily.
Crucially, we use Sodium Hyaluronate specifically because it is anti-inflammatory. This matters more than most people realise: low molecular weight or hydrolysed hyaluronic acid can actually be pro-inflammatory and can aggravate sensitive and breakout-prone skin. We don't use it.
• Sodium PCA
A key component of your skin's Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF). Sodium PCA is one of the most powerful natural humectants found in healthy skin — it draws moisture in and holds it there. Together with Sodium Hyaluronate, it provides two layers of hydration that work at different depths of the skin.
• 15 Amino Acids (NMF Complex)
Glycine, Serine, Glutamic Acid, Aspartic Acid, Leucine, Alanine, Lysine, Arginine, Tyrosine, Phenylalanine, Threonine, Proline, Valine, Isoleucine, Histidine
These are the building blocks that make up your skin's Natural Moisturising Factor. Healthy skin produces these naturally, but acne, eczema, psoriasis, and ageing all deplete them. Replenishing your NMF doesn't just hydrate — it strengthens the skin barrier from within, helping skin become more resilient over time.
Why These Specific Ingredients?
Hydrating Serum was born from a very personal problem. For years, Jasmine, our founder, couldn't find a moisturiser that worked for her skin. Creams and lotions either clogged her pores or irritated her skin.
Years of harsh, drying acne treatments had taken a visible toll. By the time Jasmine was 20, she had developed a deep wrinkle on her forehead — not from age, but from years of her skin barrier being stripped and left without proper hydration.
It was only after her aesthetic doctor introduced her to a Sodium Hyaluronate serum at age 23 that the wrinkle gradually disappeared. That experience is why fine line reduction isn't just a side benefit of Hydrating Serum — it's a result Jasmine lived herself.
For nearly 9 years before starting Skinlycious, Jasmine was buying that same serum from her doctor at three times the price you'll find here. It worked so well that she made it the foundation of what would eventually become Hydrating Serum.
But she didn't just replicate it - she improved it. By incorporating Sodium PCA and a full complex of 15 amino acids, Jasmine designed the formula to replenish the skin's Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF). NMF is what keeps healthy skin hydrated and protected. Skin conditions like acne, eczema, and psoriasis are closely linked to depleted NMF levels, and as we age, our skin produces less of it naturally.
Here's what most people don't realise: the ingredients on a label only tell half the story. Concentration matters just as much. A formula with too many humectants and too little water can actually backfire — humectants draw moisture toward themselves, and if there isn't enough water in the formula, they'll pull it from your skin cells instead, leaving skin more dehydrated than before. Even small changes to preservative levels threw Jasmine's skin off balance during testing. Every concentration in this formula — water to humectant ratio included — has been carefully calibrated for skin harmony, not just efficacy.

How to use
How to use
Simple Enough to Use Every Day
After Cleansing and Exfoliation
Apply Hydrating Serum immediately after cleansing while skin is still slightly damp — this helps lock in the hydration. If you are using Glow Exfoliant, Hydrating Serum comes after exfoliation and spot treating. Dispense 2 pumps onto your palms and apply gently over the face and neck.
Replaces Your Toner
Most toners are essentially a broth of diluted actives — not enough concentration to meaningfully change your skin. Hydrating Serum replaces your toner with a formula packed at optimal concentrations specifically for hydration. It preps your skin, balances moisture, and allows anything you apply next to absorb better. One fewer product. One fewer thing for your skin to react to.
As a Standalone Moisturiser
For oily skin, combination skin, or anyone in a hot and humid climate, Hydrating Serum can be used as your only moisturiser. It's oil-free and weightless, so it hydrates without adding shine or congestion — exactly what oily-prone skin needs.
It's also gentle and minimal enough for tweens and teens who need daily hydration without heavy creams or complex routines.

Personalised Moisture Balance
Find Your Perfect Water and Oil Balance.
Every moisturiser decision you’ve ever made — too greasy, too heavy, broke me out, not enough — comes down to one thing: the balance between water and oil in your skin.
Your skin needs both. Water keeps cells plump, resilient, and balanced. Oil seals that water in and protects the barrier. When that ratio is right for your skin type, the visible signs of imbalance — rough texture, frequent breakouts, reactive sensitivity — have less reason to show up.
When your skin is low on water:
It overproduces oil to compensate — causing oilier skin, clogged pores, and breakouts. Oily skin is often dehydrated. Dehydrated skin can also flake and become reactive, even if it doesn’t feel dry.
When your skin is low on oil:
It can’t hold onto moisture regardless of how much you apply. You’ll experience tightness, flaking, itchiness, and a weakened barrier — leaving skin vulnerable to skin issues like eczema. This is especially common in cold or dry climates.
Hydrating Serum is the water layer — the essential first step that adds hydration into the skin. For oily skin or in humid weather, this alone is often enough. But if your skin needs more, Skinlycious lets you customise.
STEP 1

Hydrating Serum
Adds water into the skin. Enough for most oily skin.
Add-on (if needed)

Barrier Booster Moisturiser
Adds oil. Seals moisture in. Barrier support.
Add-on (if DRY)

Balancing Facial Oil
Adds more oil. Further seals moisture in.
Everyone’s skin has different degree of dryness — what works in Singapore’s humidity may not work in Cold Countries’ autumn/winter. Start with Hydrating Serum as your water base, then adjust the oil level to what your skin actually needs. Layer on or mix in Barrier Booster Moisturiser if your skin feels tight or reactive. Add a few drops of Balancing Facial Oil if you need deeper nourishment. Your perfect moisture balance is yours to customise.

What Makes Hydrating Serum Different
3 Reasons This Serum Actually Works
Hydrates Without Clogging Pores — The Only Moisturiser Oily Skin Needs
Most moisturisers are built around oils and occlusives — ingredients that sit on top of the skin. They work well for dry skin. But for oily, acne-prone skin or anyone living in tropical heat, they congest pores, add to shine, and often trigger the breakouts they’re supposed to help with.
Hydrating Serum works differently. Sodium Hyaluronate and Sodium PCA are humectants — they attract water into the skin and hold it there from within, not by coating the surface. The formula is completely oil-free, absorbs instantly, and leaves no residue. Oily skin gets the hydration it needs without any of the congestion it doesn’t.
For teenagers, kids, and anyone with oily skin in Singapore’s humidity, this is often enough on its own — no separate toner, no heavy moisturiser needed.
And with consistent use, that same deep hydration plumps the skin and visibly reduces fine lines over time — a benefit that becomes more noticeable the longer you use it.

Strengthens Your Skin Barrier — Not Just the Surface
There’s a difference between skin that feels temporarily moisturised and skin that’s genuinely healthy. That difference comes down to your skin barrier — and specifically, your Natural Moisturising Factor.
NMF is depleted by ageing, harsh skincare, stress, and skin conditions like acne and eczema. When NMF is low, your skin becomes more reactive, more prone to breakouts, and harder to keep balanced.
Hydrating Serum replenishes NMF with Sodium PCA and 15 amino acids that mirror what healthy skin produces on its own. You’re not masking dryness — you’re giving your skin the building blocks it needs to stay resilient, day after day.

A Formula Born From Personal Struggle — and Years of Refinement
Hydrating Serum has a more personal origin than most skincare products. Jasmine spent years cycling through moisturisers that either clogged her pores, irritated her skin, or simply did nothing. Meanwhile, harsh acne treatments were quietly doing damage — stripping her barrier faster than it could recover.
By the time she was 20, the evidence was visible: a deep forehead wrinkle — not from ageing, but from years of dehydrated, barrier-compromised skin. It wasn’t until an aesthetic doctor introduced her to a Sodium Hyaluronate serum at 23 that things turned around. With consistent use, that wrinkle gradually faded and eventually disappeared. It’s the reason fine line reduction appears in this product’s benefits — Jasmine didn’t read about it in a study. She lived it.
That serum became something she couldn’t go without. For nearly 9 years before Skinlycious existed, she purchased it directly from her doctor at three times the price. When she eventually built the brand, replicating it wasn’t enough — she improved it.
The improved formula adds Sodium PCA and a full complex of 15 amino acids to replenish NMF — the compounds healthy skin produces naturally to stay hydrated and resilient. Acne, eczema, psoriasis, and ageing all deplete NMF. This formula helps restore it.
And here’s the formulation detail most brands skip entirely: getting the water-to-humectant ratio right is just as important as the ingredients themselves. A formula packed with humectants but too little water can actually backfire — humectants will pull water from your skin cells instead, leaving skin more dehydrated than before. Jasmine also found that even minor shifts in preservative concentration disrupted her skin’s balance during testing. Every ratio in this formula — water, humectants, preservatives — has been precisely calibrated.

Frequently Asked Questions
Good Questions, Straight Answers
Can kids without acne use Hydrating Serum?
Can kids without acne use Hydrating Serum?
Yes, absolutely! Even if there’s no acne, every skin type needs hydration because our skin can’t produce water on its own.
The Hydrating Serum is gentle and oil-free — perfect as a light moisturiser for young or oily skin, and it also helps prep and plump normal to dry skin for a healthy, balanced glow.
Do I need both Hydrating Serum and Barrier Booster Moisturiser, or can I just use one?
Do I need both Hydrating Serum and Barrier Booster Moisturiser, or can I just use one?
It depends on your skin type and oil level.
If you have oily skin, the Hydrating Serum alone may be enough as your oil-free moisturiser, especially in a humid climate. It adds essential water hydration that every skin type needs.
If your skin feels tight or pulling after applying the Hydrating Serum, it means your skin isn’t producing enough oil and needs an extra moisture layer. In that case, follow with the Barrier Booster Moisturiser, which contains plant oils and ceramides to strengthen your skin barrier and seal in moisture.
The key is finding your perfect water-and-oil balance and that’s what keeps your skin healthy, radiant, and plump.

Why are the ingredients so simple?
Why are the ingredients so simple?
Because simplicity is intentional. The fewer ingredients, the fewer potential irritants — especially important for sensitive and reactive skin. But simple doesn’t mean less effective. The key is concentration: every ingredient in this formula is at a carefully calibrated level, tested specifically on skin that’s prone to reactions. Even small shifts in preservative concentration affected Jasmine’s skin during testing — which is why we don’t treat formulation as a commodity.
Is Hydrating Serum suitable for oily skin?

Absolutely! Over time, you’ll observe a reduction or elimination of oiliness with consistent use of the Hydrating Serum. Its hydrating and balancing properties signal the skin to produce less oil, all achieved without clogging pores.

How was Hydrating Serum developed?
How was Hydrating Serum developed?
Hydrating Serum, essentially a Sodium Hyaluronate serum, is the only moisturizer that Jasmine, our founder, could use. After years of experimenting with various moisturizers without finding a suitable match, she discovered a Sodium Hyaluronate serum through an aesthetic doctor. Before establishing Skinlycious, for nearly 9 years, Jasmine purchased a comparable hydrating serum from her doctor at three times the current retail price offered by Skinlycious.
Jasmine enhanced the formula by incorporating PCA and amino acids to replicate our skin’s natural moisturizing factor (NMF). Skin problems, such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis, often coincide with lower levels of NMF. Additionally, as we age, the natural production of NMF diminishes. The inclusion of NMF and hydration in the serum not only ensures that your skin remains well-hydrated but also strengthens the skin barrier function.
