Q: What’s the difference between the Essentials Starter Kit and the Complete Starter Kit?

Q: Are your products suitable for tweens and teens?

Yes, absolutely.

Q: I’m pregnant. Can I use your products?

Yes! Our whole range is safe to use during pregnancy, with one exception: we recommend skipping the Glow Exfoliant, as it contains Salicylic Acid. While it’s applied topically in small amounts, some studies suggest caution during pregnancy. Best to check with your gynaecologist if you’re unsure. In the meantime, the Clarifying Serum makes a lovely alternative as your spot corrector.

One thing we’re especially proud of: our sunscreen is 100% pure mineral, using non-nano mineral UV filters. Q: What do you recommend for mature skin or anti-ageing concerns?

Q: Can I use Skinlycious alongside retinol or other active ingredients?

Yes, but with a little care! If you’re using retinol, avoid layering it with the Clarifying Serum (Vitamin C) at the same time. They work better when kept apart. A simple way to do it: retinol at night, Clarifying Serum in the morning. The rest of the Skinlycious range plays well with retinol! Just note that on nights you use the Glow Exfoliant, it’s best to skip retinol too. No need to layer two actives at once as that might lead to skin sensitivity.

That said, if you’re currently dealing with acne, we’d suggest sticking to the core Skinlycious routine first until your skin settles. Then, slowly introduce other actives once things are clearer. Your skin will thank you for your patience

Q: What is the Half Face Test and why do I need to do it?

The Half Face Test is a 5-day process to find out which spot treatment — acid-based or vitamin-based — works best for your skin. Because everyone’s skin responds differently, this helps us personalise your routine before you commit to full-size products.

Avoid facials and aesthetic procedures and mixing with other brands.

First 5 Days (Half-Face Test)

  • Step 1: Cleanse your whole face with Calming Cleanser
  • Step 2 (Right side): Apply Glow Exfoliant (GE) on acne spots and marks with a cotton pad for maximum efficacy.

If your acne is not on the left and right side of your face, test using Glow Exfoliant on the bone spur side of your cheek, then Clarifying Serum on the other side.

Q: Do I need to use a toner?

Nope! Our founder and formulator doesn’t use toner. She sees them as a broth of diluted actives that don’t do much. So we don’t include one in our range, and don’t recommend it either.

If you’re after hydration, skip the hydrating toner and go straight to our Hydrating Serum — it’s far more effective. Looking for exfoliation? Our Glow Exfoliant does a much better job than any exfoliating toner. And double cleansing at night goes a long way in keeping pores clearer too!

Q: Can I use makeup or sunscreen with your products?

Yes, absolutely! Just a heads-up though — if you have oily, acne-prone, or sensitive skin, be mindful that many sunscreens and foundations can clog pores easily.

At night, double cleansing is key to keeping pores clear. Use Soothing Cleansing Gel as your first cleanse to remove sunscreen and makeup, followed by Calming Cleanser. Massage each for about a minute for a thorough cleanse.

Q: I sweat a lot after working out or P.E. Should I cleanse my face after that or only cleanse twice a day?

Definitely cleanse after a workout! Bacteria feed on both sweat and sebum, and leaving them sitting in your pores is just asking for breakouts.

After exercising, use your Calming Cleanser, then follow up with the Hydrating Serum. If your skin feels tight afterwards, a small amount of Barrier Booster Moisturiser will do the trick. Spot treatments twice a day only.

Q: What should I do after completing the 5–7 day Starter Kit trial?

After 5 days, take a moment to review how your skin is responding:

  • Spot treatments: Which one works better for you — or are both helping? You can continue using both for different concerns or areas.
  • Water-Oil balance: Notice any tight or pulling feeling after the Hydrating Serum? That’s a sign to fine-tune your water-oil balance. Learn how to customise your moisturiser here.

If you’re seeing new pimples pop up, don’t panic! Acne can form 4–6 weeks before it surfaces, so it may just be working its way out.

Q: Can I have laser or facial treatments while using your products?

Most of our products are soothing, hydrating, and moisturising, so they should be fine to continue using. Just check with your doctor or aesthetician about these two products that increase skin cell turnover — Glow Exfoliant and Clarifying Serum. As laser treatments and chemical peels are also forms of exfoliation. Your doctor will be better able to advise when to pause and when to reintroduce them, since over-exfoliating can damage your skin barrier.

Q: My skin broke out more after starting. Is this purging or a reaction?

Some new pimples popping in the first few weeks are normal. The active ingredients in both Glow Exfoliant and Clarifying Serum increase skin cell turnover, which brings existing clogs (formed weeks earlier beneath the skin) to the surface.

Signs it’s working: Your existing acne is reducing or flattening, and your skin is becoming less oily

Signs it may NOT be working: Your existing acne becomes more inflamed and does not reduce in size at all. If this happens, stop use and contact us. Your acne could be possibly caused by sensitised skin rather than clogged pores. Read more here.

Q: My skin is peeling. Is this normal?

Some peeling from Glow Exfoliant is normal — it’s the result of increased skin cell turnover from the salicylic and mandelic acid. If peeling feels excessive, reduce to once daily at night only. Once visible peeling stops, you can gradually build back up.

Always follow up with Hydrating Serum and sunscreen to keep skin hydrated and protected.

Q: My skin feels tight. What should I do?

Tightness after Hydrating Serum means your skin is not only dehydrated but dry too. Mix or layer on Barrier Booster Moisturiser after Hydrating Serum. If still tight, layer or mix 1–2 drops of Balancing Facial Oil into your moisturiser before applying. Read more on how to customise your moisturiser.

Q: I feel a stinging or biting sensation when using the spot treatment. Is this normal?

A light stinging when first using Glow Exfoliant is normal as it’s due to the acidity of the product. Apply Hydrating Serum immediately after to reduce the sensation. This sensation will lessen and go away as your skin gets used to the acidity.

If you experience extreme redness, itching, or a prolonged reaction, stop use and contact us.

Q: I’ve been using the kit for a few weeks but my skin isn’t improving. What should I do?

Yes, but with a little care! If you’re using retinol, avoid layering it with the Clarifying Serum (Vitamin C) at the same time. They work better when kept apart. A simple way to do it: retinol at night, Clarifying Serum in the morning. The rest of the Skinlycious range plays well with retinol! Just note that on nights you use the Glow Exfoliant, it’s best to skip retinol too. No need to layer two actives at once as that might lead to skin sensitivity.

That said, if you’re currently dealing with acne, we’d suggest sticking to the core Skinlycious routine first until your skin settles. Then, slowly introduce other actives once things are clearer. Your skin will thank you for your patience

Q: What is the Half Face Test and why do I need to do it?

The Half Face Test is a 5-day process to find out which spot treatment — acid-based or vitamin-based — works best for your skin. Because everyone’s skin responds differently, this helps us personalise your routine before you commit to full-size products.

Avoid facials and aesthetic procedures and mixing with other brands.

First 5 Days (Half-Face Test)

AM & PM Routine

  • Step 1: Cleanse your whole face with Calming Cleanser
  • Step 2 (Right side): Apply Glow Exfoliant (GE) on acne spots and marks with a cotton pad for maximum efficacy.
  • Step 3: Apply our oil-free moisturise Hydrating Serum (HS) to the whole face
  • Step 4 (Left side): Apply Clarifying Serum (CS) on acne spots and marks.

If your acne is not on the left and right side of your face, test using Glow Exfoliant on the bone spur side of your cheek, then Clarifying Serum on the other side.

Q: Do I need to use a toner?

Nope! Our founder and formulator doesn’t use toner. She sees them as a broth of diluted actives that don’t do much. So we don’t include one in our range, and don’t recommend it either.

If you’re after hydration, skip the hydrating toner and go straight to our Hydrating Serum — it’s far more effective. Looking for exfoliation? Our Glow Exfoliant does a much better job than any exfoliating toner. And double cleansing at night goes a long way in keeping pores clearer too!

Q: Can I use makeup or sunscreen with your products?

Yes, absolutely! Just a heads-up though — if you have oily, acne-prone, or sensitive skin, be mindful that many sunscreens and foundations can clog pores easily.

At night, double cleansing is key to keeping pores clear. Use Soothing Cleansing Gel as your first cleanse to remove sunscreen and makeup, followed by Calming Cleanser. Massage each for about a minute for a thorough cleanse.

Q: I sweat a lot after working out or P.E. Should I cleanse my face after that or only cleanse twice a day?

Definitely cleanse after a workout! Bacteria feed on both sweat and sebum, and leaving them sitting in your pores is just asking for breakouts.

After exercising, use your Calming Cleanser, then follow up with the Hydrating Serum. If your skin feels tight afterwards, a small amount of Barrier Booster Moisturiser will do the trick. Spot treatments twice a day only.

Q: What should I do after completing the 5–7 day Starter Kit trial?

After 5 days, take a moment to review how your skin is responding:

  • Spot treatments: Which one works better for you — or are both helping? You can continue using both for different concerns or areas.

Q: Can I have laser or facial treatments while using your products?

Most of our products are soothing, hydrating, and moisturising, so they should be fine to continue using. Just check with your doctor or aesthetician about these two products that increase skin cell turnover — Glow Exfoliant and Clarifying Serum. As laser treatments and chemical peels are also forms of exfoliation. Your doctor will be better able to advise when to pause and when to reintroduce them, since over-exfoliating can damage your skin barrier.

My skin is reacting

Purging, peeling, tightness, no results

Q: My skin broke out more after starting. Is this purging or a reaction?

Some new pimples popping in the first few weeks are normal. The active ingredients in both Glow Exfoliant and Clarifying Serum increase skin cell turnover, which brings existing clogs (formed weeks earlier beneath the skin) to the surface.

Signs it’s working: Your existing acne is reducing or flattening, and your skin is becoming less oily

Signs it may NOT be working: Your existing acne becomes more inflamed and does not reduce in size at all. If this happens, stop use and contact us. Your acne could be possibly caused by sensitised skin rather than clogged pores. Read more here.

Q: My skin is peeling. Is this normal?

Some peeling from Glow Exfoliant is normal — it’s the result of increased skin cell turnover from the salicylic and mandelic acid. If peeling feels excessive, reduce to once daily at night only. Once visible peeling stops, you can gradually build back up.

Always follow up with Hydrating Serum and sunscreen to keep skin hydrated and protected.

Q: My skin feels tight. What should I do?

Tightness after Hydrating Serum means your skin is not only dehydrated but dry too. Mix or layer on Barrier Booster Moisturiser after Hydrating Serum. If still tight, layer or mix 1–2 drops of Balancing Facial Oil into your moisturiser before applying. Read more on how to customise your moisturiser.

Q: I feel a stinging or biting sensation when using the spot treatment. Is this normal?

A light stinging when first using Glow Exfoliant is normal as it’s due to the acidity of the product. Apply Hydrating Serum immediately after to reduce the sensation. This sensation will lessen and go away as your skin gets used to the acidity.

If you experience extreme redness, itching, or a prolonged reaction, stop use and contact us.

Q: I’ve been using the kit for a few weeks but my skin isn’t improving. What should I do?
